What do you imagine when you think of Frankenstein? Is it the hideous green monster that exists in most haunted houses or is on sale at the nearby Halloween store? Is it the character that Boris Karloff plays in Frankenstein the movie in 1931? But the truth is that the original story of the monster was written more than a century before.

The novel Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley in 1816 (when she was only nineteen!), is a story filled with twists, turns, and many surprising concepts. It also reflected the time period; in an era where science was growing rapidly and scientists were making new discoveries and exploring new concepts, there was must skepticism about the limits of science.

In this webquest you anaylze different characters of Frankenstein, learn about the time period, and explore various themes.
